Expiration dates on vaccinations are required. If we do not have expiration dates, we cannot board your pet. If you do not have vaccination records, you will need to call your veterinarian. Please read below for more information. We also have a finite amount of space, especially for larger dogs, meaning sometimes we fill up!
We kindly request that short notice (less than 2 weeks notice) boarding request emails call us instead as we do not have the staff to check emails in a timely manner. We apologize for the inconvenience.

We board animals, whether for one day, overnight, or many days, we can take care of your pet while you're away!
Costs for boarding is $35 per animal per day as of January 2023. If you live in the Moab area, ask us about our local discount.
We have many different sizes and spaces available. Our runs are indoors (with A/C in the warmer months and heat in the cooler months), with the standard run measuring approximately 3' wide x 6' feet deep. Our largest run measures at approximately 6' wide x 6' deep and we have many smaller cages available to accommodate our smaller furry friends. Our runs are made of concrete so the animals cannot see each other while in them. If space permits, small dogs can be in runs but any dogs too big for cages will have priority for runs. Unfortunately there are extremely limited boarding options in Moab and we do our best to take as many dogs as possible so they don't get left in hot vehicles. We also must have run space for larger hospitalized patients and we apologize for any inconvenience this causes. If you have a booked a spot with us and no longer need that spot, please call us as soon as possible to cancel. There are no fees for canceling, it just helps us out knowing what spaces we have available and also helps us avoid implementing inconvenient things like necessitating deposits.
Most of our runs are big enough that if you have several dogs and want them to room together, they can. We also have larger metal cages that can fit a couple of small dogs that want to board together.
Two to three times daily we "walk" the dogs, letting them out into one of two outdoor yards where they can run and play. If they do well with other dogs we will let them out with dogs of a similar size and age so they can play together. Since the two yards are right next to each other we can place your dog on the opposite side of a group of dogs so they can get the dog-to-dog contact without being in with other dogs. If you are concerned about how your dog does with others or know they do not do well with other dogs at all we can leave the other yard empty. It is not a problem at all to “walk” a dog by themselves and we prefer to keep everyone safe and comfortable! "Walking" dogs can take a while as we only have the two yards and we try our best to get everyone out as quickly as possible.
We feed Hill's Science Diet dry food to our boarding animals, but you are welcome to bring your own food! If your pet gets anything special, such as a treat every morning, that will need to be provided as we do not have treats for all our boarding pets as some have food allergies or special diets. If your pet eats wet food, you will need to provide us with the wet food or purchase wet food from us (we sell Hill's products). Please label any bags or containers with your pet’s name and have the feeding amounts written down if your pet eats a specific amount as we don't know what your pet usually eats at home :) We provide our own bowls and bedding, but if your pet needs a slow feeder we are happy to accommodate that, we just ask if they use a regular bowl that you hang on to it because we tend to hang to them… forever. Please be sure to ask for any belongings back as we tend to get caught in getting your dog and forget about their belongings!
You are welcome to bring bedding as well, but not all beds fit in our accommodations and sometimes pets get nervous, anxious, or bored while they're boarding and can soil or destroy their bedding despite our best efforts, so please keep that in mind. We also ask that harnesses are removed as we've had an increased in dogs either chewing their own harnesses or the other dogs being sassy and chewing someone else's harness during play time. Collars are fine to leave on and we prefer they keep their collars as we don’t tend to use leashes in the back.
Please make reservations as far ahead as possible, especially if planning for any sort of weekend or holiday boarding or daycare. We have limited space and fill up fast, especially for large dogs, and encourage you to make reservations in advance during Moab's busy season, major holidays (such as Memorial Day), and events (such as Jeep Safari). Sometimes we just plain fill up for no reason at all. We try our best to accommodate everyone, but since COVID-19 more people have acquired pets and are traveling with them and Moab has become an extremely popular destination to visit (we were recently ranked 6th most welcoming city in the world!). We try very hard to accommodate as many pets as possible because we want you to enjoy your trip. We don't charge for canceling plans, we understand sometimes things don't work out, but we do ask as soon as you know to get ahold of us during business hours or to email so we can use that space for other visitors.
You are welcome to email us to inquire about reservations, but please email us at least two (2) weeks ahead of time to give staff adequate time to be able to answer your email and get you scheduled. If you are calling to make a reservation, we just ask that you call as soon as you know what your plans are, you don't need to call 2 weeks ahead of time unless you want to reserve during a busy weekend. We just need adequate time to check our emails. We do not check our email outside of business hours. If you email us Sunday night about boarding Monday morning, we're not going to see it until our morning calms down enough to check our email. Our staffing is limited and we don't always have time to answer last minute emails in a timely manner and we do apologize for that. In other words, please do not send emails inquiring about boarding availability the following day, we will probably not have time to answer you. If you are emailing us during the weekend for last minute boarding on a Monday or Sunday, please call us instead. We close at noon Mountain Time on Saturday and stop checking the email after closing. If it's been a busy Saturday, we may not have had time to check the email at all, which is why we ask if you're emailing us to email at least two weeks ahead. Please call us if you need to ask about short notice availability- we are happy to try to help! If you need immediate assistance, please call us at 435-259-8710 during business hours and push 5 to speak with a staff member.
Please be aware that unlike some national parks, Arches and Canyonlands do not permit dogs on hiking trails, even on leash. Dead Horse Point State Park permits hiking with dogs on 6' leashes and dogs are welcome on BLM land (Bureau of Land Management, ie public land). Arches reinstates the timed reservation system during their peak visiting months and they can be incredibly busy. Please account for possible traffic on the way back so you can get to the clinic on time.
Please be on time when picking up your pet. We understand the day can easily get away in our beautiful area, but the majority of our staff have children with activities starting at 5pm or other obligations after 5pm :) Boarding hours are 8am to 4.45pm Monday through Friday, 8am to Noon on Saturdays, and again between 4pm and 4:30pm Saturday afternoons. We have additional pick up/drop off times 8am to 8:30am Sunday mornings and 4pm to 4:30pm on Sunday afternoons. Inquire for pick up/drop off times during holidays. Unfortunately we are not able to accommodate any pick ups or drop offs outside of the specified hours and we apologize for that inconvenience. The staff often have other commitments outside of business hours, such as errands unable to be done while they are working, familial obligations, or extracurricular activities for their children. We apologize for the inconvenience and understand the hardship this causes.
It is required that dogs and cats be current on their vaccinations while boarding with us, for the safety of our hospitalized patients, as we are a veterinary hospital primarily, and other pets staying at our facility. We require proof of bordetella, distemper/parvo, and rabies vaccinations for dogs and a feline combo (with panleukopenia) and rabies for cats. We must have proof of vaccinations with the expiration date, a promise that your veterinarian said your pet was up to date does not count. Feed store receipts do not count. City tags or licenses do not count. We will need the actual date of administration by a veterinary facility, shelter, or humane society, with an expiration date of when revaccination needs to occur. Please call any and all veterinarians or shelters that have administered your pet's vaccinations and have the paperwork with the most recent expiration dates on hand. If your pet has seen multiple veterinarians for various vaccinations, you will need to contact each one for the proof of vaccination if they are missing one of the required vaccinations.
We strongly recommend boostering your dog's bordetella vaccination at least 14 days prior to boarding for the best efficacy. You can fax or email proof of vaccinations ahead of time, or bring records with you at the time of drop off. If you are bringing vaccination records with you at time of drop off, please make sure you have your most recent records and that your pet is up to date on all required vaccinations. We recommend sending records ahead of time so if there is a problem, our staff has ample time to notify you so you can make an appointment with your regular veterinarian to update required vaccinations. Not all clinics regularly vaccinate for what is required for boarding. Please keep in mind that like the human influenza vaccination, bordetella does not cover every single form of "kennel cough" and boarding your animal is at your own risk.
Can't decipher your vaccination records? Our staff is well-versed in veterinary shorthand and abbreviations!
At the discretion of the staff, as we are a veterinary hospital, pets that are coughing will not be walked or socialized with other animals currently boarding. This is due to the risk of contagious tracheobronchitis which we do not want spreading to other boarders or hospitalized patients.
We are chronically short-staffed, like many businesses, with technicians assisting doctors on farm calls with large animals and assisting in emergency surgeries. We are one of two veterinary facilities around for many, many miles and the only large animal veterinarian serving several counties, including those in Colorado. We are short staffed and stretched pretty thin and appreciate your understanding. We are not a grooming facility, we do not offer baths during boarding because we simply do not have the staff available. We will do our best to accommodate "small" requests such as nail trims, but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to get those done as veterinary appointments and sick animals take priority and we do not have separate boarding facility staff.
We also board more than cats and dogs! In the past we have boarded ferrets, rabbits, mini pigs, ducks, geckos, fish, goats, and turtles. If bringing an "exotic" pet, please bring their food and any special items they may need such as bedding and their cage/terrarium. Our kennel staff also thanks you for detailed instructions on their special care.
If you have any unanswered questions or would like to make arrangements to board your pets, please call the clinic today at 435-259-8710 and press option 5 to talk to the front desk.
